At the last two Olympic Games, India won a medal in badminton. Saina Nehwal got a bronze medal in the 2012 London Olympics, and PV Sindhu won a silver medal in the 2016 Rio Olympics in the singles event. Chirag Shetty and Satwigsairaj Rankireddy, a male combo, will carry our dreams of capturing another medal in the badminton doubles event in Tokyo 2020. Let's learn more about Chirag Shetty, who could perhaps be a source of pride for India at the Olympics. Bio of Chirag Shetty Chirag Shetty was born on July 4, 1997, in Mumbai and was fortunate to have supportive parents throughout his development as a badminton player. Chirag and his daughter Arya Shetty were encouraged by their father Chandrashekhar Shetty to participate in any sport. He preferred an individual sports event since he is familiar with the shady politics of team sports selection. Chirag picked badminton since it can be played alone or with a partner, but the doubles became his primary event. Best Sports list: Figure Skating | Flag Football | Footvolley | Formula One | Formula Three | Free Diving | Freestyle Football | Freestyle Skiing | Futsal | Gaelic Football | Gatka | Gliding | Go | Goalball | Golf | Grey Hound Racing | Gymnastics | Hammer Throw | Heptathlon | High Diving Chirag demonstrated early on that he had a lot of promise in the sport. His school, Ryan International, crowned him badminton champion. At the Uday Pawar Academy, he began his professional career. He came to Hyderabad to join the Gopichand Academy, one of the premier factories of world-class players, as he emerged as one of India's burgeoning badminton talents. Satwigsairaj Rankireddy, his doubles partner from Andhra Pradesh, was there. Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy are a fantastic pair. The Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy combination had fantastic chemistry and quickly rose to fame. Six Badminton World Federation series gold medals have been won by the young duo (2016 – Mauritius International, India International series, Tata Open India International, Bangladesh International). Vietnam International in 2017, and Brazil International in 2019. They won the Hyderabad Open in 2018 and the Thailand Open in 2019. They also finished second in the Syed Modi International competition. The gold medal he won in the mixed-team event at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2018 is the most significant achievement Chirag Shetty has made. It had been his father's goal to see him win a medal at the Commonwealth Games, and all of his hard work in molding him into such a capable player paid off with that 3-1 win over Malaysia. In the same Commonwealth Games, Chirag and his partner Satwigsairaj won silver in the men's doubles event, losing to Marcus Ellis and Chris Langridge of England. Even more impressive about this little youngster is that he won all of these while recovering from a back injury. Family Unlike some parents who discourage their children from participating in athletics and instead encourage them to focus on academics, Chirag Shetty's parents, Chandrashekhar and Sujatha Shetty were just as concerned as he was about reaching higher levels. Arya Shetty, his sister, is a professional badminton player. Chandrashekhar Shetty was a wonderful father to his son. He never discouraged him from participating in team sports, even if he first detested it. Instead, he wouldn't even let Chirag spend 15 days alone. If such a case arises, he will accompany his son and remain in close proximity to his hotel room. Chandrashekhar would follow Chirag wherever he had a tournament in India. He usually attends badminton matches for amusement, but he becomes nervous when he sees Chirag on the court. Chirag Shetty's success is largely due to his father's interest in and desire to see him win every match. Performance and appearance Mathias Boe, a former No. 1 ranked doubles player, is currently training the Chirag-Satwigsairaj duo. Chirag Shetty is presently ranked tenth in the Men's Doubles tournament. He has only ever risen to No. 7 in the rankings. If things go according to Indian badminton icon Pullela Gopichand's predictions, India will win the most medals in the Olympics' history this year. If that's the case, we can't rule out the possibility of Chirag Shetty and Satwigsairaj Rankireddy representing India in Tokyo 2020. Badminton is a popular and fast-paced sport that requires extreme fitness. Badminton, on the other hand, is a beginner-friendly sport that anyone may learn without concern. In reality, there are numerous health benefits to practicing the sport in addition to the enjoyment. However, if and when you begin playing this lovely sport, you will need to brush up on some fundamental badminton abilities to compete at the highest level in this individually demanding sport. Furthermore, if you decide to become a pro, ignoring the basics will plague you throughout your career. Here are seven basic badminton skills, often known as fundamental badminton skills, that you may master without any instruction. Fundamental badminton skills The proper grip for holding the racket is critical for maintaining control over shots while avoiding wrist injuries. With the proper grip, you'll be able to play both backhand and forehand strokes with ease. A friendly handshake is analogous to holding a racket. Only the thumb will rest nicely on the handle grip's broader surface. The rest of the hand will imitate a handshake. Remember to maintain a polite handshake and avoid a firm grasp. It will limit motion flexibility and, in the long run, may result in a wrist injury. Grip: Basic badminton skills The only difference between the two types of strokes is how they are played with fingers. When playing forehand strokes, move the index finger forward. When playing backhand strokes, push the thumb forward. Badminton Techniques The stance refers to how you stand while playing badminton, both during rallies and before serving. Because of the ease with which you can move with a certain and proper posture, you will notice a significant difference in your outcomes. There are three different sorts of stances: Attacking Position It is used to prepare for an overhead forehand stroke. Turn your torso to the sidelines and stand with your racket leg behind you and both legs shoulder-width apart to take the attacking stance. Raise both racket and non-racket arms to provide the force needed to assault the shuttle as it descends. Defensive Position You must be prepared with the defensive stance to counter an opponent's smash. Place your racket in front of you at waist height, slightly pointing forward, with your back to the net. Thus, you can maintain your non-racket arm as comfortably as possible while improving your balance. Net Position This position is used to anticipate the opponent's return following a net shot. To play this shot: Step forward with your racket foot while maintaining your non-racket foot at the rear. Raise the non-racket arm while placing the racket in front of the torso, slightly above waist height. Pounce forward by shifting your body weight forward slightly. It's never easy to see someone you care about struggle with a disease, but according to Katia S. Stoletniy, MD, an addiction psychiatrist at Loma Linda University Behavioral Medicine Center, the three C's of addiction recovery can help you support your loved one on their addiction recovery journey while also maintaining your own personal boundaries. "I had nothing to do with it," she said. Remember that you did not cause your loved one's addictive behaviors, which is crucial when dealing with addiction. While your loved one may place the blame on you, Stoletniy says that understanding this will help you deal with their accusations. This is the first step to helping your loved one recover: understanding what you can and cannot control. Addiction, like diabetes and hypertension, is a long-term condition that necessitates medical attention. According to Stoletniy, treating addiction necessitates both behavioral and dietary changes. Some treatment options include the use of medications to ease withdrawal symptoms, cognitive behavioral therapy, or in-patient rehab. Also, different treatments may be used in conjunction with one another. No, it is not a sign of abandonment. Stoletniy says, "It doesn't mean you'll allow them or enable them." You'll be able to see the options available to your loved one much more clearly. "It's out of my hands." Addiction is a disease of the brain that alters the chemistry in the brain. Stoletniy says that while it's natural to want to exert control over the actions of those you care about, resisting that urge will allow you to engage more productively and concentrate your efforts on the things you can control. As you help a loved one on their road to recovery, you can educate yourself about addiction and take care of your own needs. In the event that your loved one needs help, Stoletniy promises that you will be there to help them make the right decision.
